Mad Science!

Our exploration of carbon dioxide continued today with an experiment involving Mentos and Diet Coke. We learned that bubbles of carbon dioxide from the Diet Coke lodge themselves and grow in the little craters on the surface of Mentos mints. Once these bubbles pop, they release a lot of carbon dioxide which causes a volcanic eruption of Diet Coke, as well as squeals of delight from the 2/3 class!
