Last Day...

The 2/3W kids had a wonderful last day together - we shared some highlights from the year together with the Frog-o-phone...

Then we bid farewell to Mme Virginie (and a few other staff members and students) after 28 years at SMY!

Hung out with our buddies..

...and picked hand painted rocks with special messages....

What a treat it has been to teach these twenty beautiful, lively and kind children this past school year!

Wishing all the 2/3W families a fantastic summer full of adventures, good health and love!

Pedestrian Safety

The students attended a Pedestrian Safety Program today presented by the Ottawa Safety Council. As seen below, Olivia did a great job at crossing the street safely. Cameron - not so much...he was too distracted by his plastic cellphone!

Freezie Fun!

Thanks to Parent Council for treating the students to Freezies today. They were a hit!

Old Friends at the BBQ!

It was great to be reunited with Neela at the BBQ! We still miss her a whole bunch!

Dance Fever!

The students presented their original dance routines this morning! Many students and teachers from other classes have requested to see them all....looks like there will be 2/3W dance presentations on the horizon for the last week of school!

Popsicle Goodbye!

Thank to Lisa, Braeden's Mom, who delivered popsicles for the kids to enjoy after Winterwood. In honour of Max's last day, the kids (and their dripping popsicles) gathered around him to say goodbye and share special Max memories!

Fun in the Sun!

We had a wonderful time at Winterwood today as these grinning faces reveal...

Winterwood Park Tomorrow Afternoon!

A reminder that we are headed to Winterwood Park tomorrow afternoon for some summer fun! Students are asked to bring swimsuits, towels, hats and sunscreen! Should be a fun time!

Poetry Books

The students are busy publishing their poetry books. The students have written five types of poems (haiku, diamante, couplet, cinquain and shape) about a theme of their choice. Here are a few sneak peaks...

Outdoor Math Scavenger Hunt!

We concluded the week with an Outdoor Math Scavenger Hunt in the junior yard. The students had to find and record examples of math concepts they learned this year. Max and his partner below showed great dedication to their task! Trying out the junior yard play structures (which provided many real-life examples of symmetry, fractions and geometry) proved to be far too tempting for many of the other kids last block on a sunny Friday!

Rainbow Bling!

Rainbow Loom Mania has gripped the 2/3W classroom! Check out all the bling they made on Friday! I found a kit at a garage sale last weekend and I didn't realize what a hit it would be!

A Few of My Favourite Things...

Congratulations to the choir and dance showcase kids who treated us to sensational performances this afternoon! The students are to be commended for their commitment to the choir and dance practices. They missed a lot of recesses to practice and the quality of the show reflected their hard work and dedication! A big thank you to Ms. Morris, Mrs. Armstrong and Mme Virginie!

Putting on the Ritz!

Race Fever!

The racing continued this afternoon. Rawad raced Mr. Pope and Mr. H and the results were too close to call! He is like the wind. Some of the 2/3W kids also got in some racing fun!

Endangered Animals

Mr. Pope and his students invited us to the Learning Commons this afternoon to share the finished products of their research projects on endangered animals. Each student had made a brochure as well as a Google Slide Presentation about a chosen endangered animal. Their projects were fascinating! The 2/3 W students are busy researching their own science projects this week on animals and plants. Thanks for the inspiration 3/4P!

Exciting Race Day!

As the 3F kids came in the school this morning, they all wondered whether Mrs. Frangione had brought in her running shows for Race Day! They explained to us that Mrs. Frangione would be racing Rawad - the fastest runner in 3F! By the time the race rolled around this afternoon, the entire primary division excitedly cheered them on! It was a blast!

It was a very close race but in the end, Mrs. Frangione gave up her undefeated title to Rawad! "Man - either they're getting quicker or I'm getting slower!" she exclaimed after the big race! Congratulations to both of them for being such good sports!
