Christmas Tree Fun!

Ms. Sam, our amazing student from Algonquin, led a tree making craft activity today after our Advent Service. We are starting to get into the spirit...

Advent - Week 1

Today we dressed our Payer Table in purple and lit a purple candle on our Advent Wreath. We held a class Advent service and talked about who in the world needs hope, and how we can be messengers of hope during this special time of waiting.

3W's Got Talent!

Wow! Yafeat treated us to an impromptu concert this afternoon! She sang "You Raise Me Up!" and  sounded like an angel! CJ was so captivated by her singing that he pulled up a chair right next to our singing sensation!

Reach for the Stars

Congratulations to Mirren and Alex for receiving the Justice Award, and to Dimitri whose hard work earned him the French Award!

Minecraft Island!

Dimitri worked so hard (as did the other students) on his descriptive piece about an island of his dreams. He created Minecraft Island which is a place that delights Minecraft fans as well as healthy food fans (like me). There is no junk food on this island! Way to put forth an excellent effort, Dimitri! I will post more of these descriptions of imaginative islands next week!

Mirren's Visit to Parliament Hill!

Mirren went to Parliament Hill earlier this week to chat with politicians and advocate for more research money for Type 1 Childhood Diabetes. She presented highlights from her visit to the class today. We then had a terrific discussion about the importance of developing self-advocacy skills! Thanks Mirren!

Math Update!

Yesterday, the yellow Math duo tangs went home. The students are to review the patterning sheets as well as the Patterning Practice Test in preparation for the Patterning Test on Thursday.

This morning we started the Measurement Unit. The students used their pinkies (the width is about 1cm) to estimate the length of a variety of objects in the class. They then used a ruler to check their estimates. Here are some pics:
