Today we talked about how visualizing can be an effective strategy to connect to a text.
I then read them the two first stanzas of a very descriptive poem entitled
My Neighbour's Dog. The students (and Mrs. Kelly) then drew what they visualized.
Once they had finished their drawing, I read the last stanza of the poem. It provides more details and has an interesting twist. The students then drew their new visualization based on the entire poem!
