Ready, Set, Action!

The students spent a very productive block this morning collaborating and creating props and costumes for their plays...they were so immersed in their imaginative creations that they worked right through until lunch and missed the boys' basketball tournament!

After lunch, they performed the plays for the rest of the class  - they were terrific. Each group received some constructive comments on how to improve their performances for later next week when we invite other classes to be our audience!

Upper Canada Village!

An information letter and permission form went home in your child's agenda today regarding our end of the year trip to Upper Canada Village which will take place on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019! If you didn't receive this letter, please let me know via your child's agenda and I'll make sure to send a copy home. It is a fantastic trip to take with the students as it complements the Grade 3 Social Studies curriculum area of study about pioneers!

Fairy Tale Plays

For the past week, the students have been rehearsing mini fairy tale plays for Drama. Tomorrow afternoon, each group will perform their play for the first time for the rest of the class. I have encouraged the students to bring in very simple props for their plays. Tomorrow's performances are an opportunity to give each group some feedback and ideas before they perform the plays for a few other classes after Easter. The plays being produced are:

St. Pat's Band!

The St. Pat's Junior Band treated us this afternoon to a fabulous concert with hits like Star Wars, Tequila and Uptown Funk! It was very exciting to see a few SMY graduates perform (including Cam's sister Emma)!

Swimming at Last!

Check out these happy grins!

Planting Friday!

The students planted their bean seeds on Friday. We discovered that the beans that we had placed in a damp paper towel deprived of light in a classroom cupboard sprouted as well!

Week at a Glance

Fractions!

We focused our attention on fractions last week during Math time. The students really enjoyed using Cuisenaire Rods to explore fractions of different lengths. This week we will tackle determining fractions of a set (i.e. 1/4 of 12 is 3, 3/4 of 12 is 9)!

More Spring Weather Please!

Elroei took advantage of the warm spring afternoon on Friday to create some outdoor spring art. She insisted that I post her creation. Maybe I can be her art promoter/agent when she grows up and I retire!

Elroei's Metis Masterpiece!

Elroei has been working on this masterpiece over the past few days whenever she found a spare moment...what awesome talent! She used Christi Belcourt's flower as inspiration. Way to go, Elroei!
