Cake Walk Frenzy!

What a fun day! Thank you to all parents who contributed baked goods to the Cake Walk! The cakes were incredible and as Mrs. Sabourin said, everyone was a winner because we raised money for Free the Children! Thank you to Mrs. Sabourin and Mrs. Frangione for organizing this fun event! Here are a few pics from the day!

Do you Come from a Land Down Under?

Markus regaled us with pictures and tales from his month-long trip to Australia! Kangaroos, platypuses, and an incredible Lego Museum were part of his adventures.

Petting a koala bear!

Markus with his Grandmother and one of her egg-laying chickens! "It wasn't a fib!" Markus exclaimed. He told us a story about these chickens a few months ago during his Two Truths and a Fib presentation!

Tomorrow!

The students in 3W, along with those from Mrs. Frangione & Mr. Pope's class are invited to wear their PJ's tomorrow to celebrate how well they represented our school today during the visits from a variety of principals/superintendents during our school's District Review. The students collaboratively worked in teams on a variety of problem-solving math questions in the Learning Commons.

Money Test on Friday!

The Money Practice Test went home today. The students will be writing the actual test this coming Friday. Some students need a bit of extra practice calculating change. Here is a video we took today on the Smartboard explaining how to count up...It might help!

Happy 150th!

The 3W students have been hard at work on a Canada 150th Project!

Last week, the students started brainstorming words and feelings that they associated with Canada. After, each student chose one word that they carved into styrofoam using a stick! They then used this carving to make prints of their words!

Here is the 3W version of the Canadian flag:

Here is the link to a slideshow we made as a Happy 150th Birthday tribute to Canada:

So Long, Ms. Sam!

A few tears were shed today as we bid farewell to our treasured Ms. Sam. Sam made a positive difference in our daily lives and she will be hugely missed! We are so grateful for the time she spent with us!
Ms. Sam and the students decorated the door before she left!

We gave Ms. Sam a scrapbook of photos and letters that each 3W student wrote to her. She was very touched!

Sprouting Radishes

We are sprouting radish seeds this week and recording our findings in a seed journal. Here are some pics from Day 2...

Ms. Kendra Here to Stay!

We got some exciting news today...Ms. Kendra who has been with 3W since the new year will be with us until the end of the school year! The students were thrilled to hear this news!

St. Pat's Band!

The St. Pat's Intermediate Band treated us to a wonderful concert this afternoon. They played lots of hits like the Star Wars theme song, Grease Lightning and even Uptown Funk! There were quite a few SMY graduates in the band including Mirren's brother Noah who plays the trumpet!

Drama with Dan!

A HUGE thank you to Connor's Dad Dan who spent a whole block with us today leading the students in a variety of improvisational activities. The students worked collaboratively and harnessed their imaginations to produce some humorous and memorable scenarios! We learned a whole bunch and had HEAPS of fun!

Pokémon Fever!

Pokémon Fever has gripped 3W! A few of the students even made their own cards during Chromebook time yesterday! Connor was so motivated that he and his Dad discovered a "Make Your Own Pokémon" website last night. Connor showed the class how to use it today. In fact, they made a Ms.Wills Pokémon Card today on the Smartboard which I will post tomorrow!

Here are a few of the Pokémon designers proudly showing off their cards!
